Summer Vacation - July 2018

The 2018 Summer vacation took us to foreign shores to 2 new countries that we had never visited before namely Spain and Italy. The main reason for Spain was to visit very special friends that we had not seem for many years. While there, we figured why not enjoy something else new at the same time. The trip to Spain took us through London so we spent the day there too. The last time that we had been to London, it was a very cold blustery day, so to have a bright sunny day was pleasant!

After arriving at London Gatwick airport, we took the Gatwick Express train to Victoria station. First thing there was to enjoy a wonderful English breakfast before we headed off for the Big Red Bus tour of London that took us all over the city, with the exception of places that were closed and off-limits due to the visit to England of the President of the USA. Following the day in London, we headed back to London Gatwick airport to vatch our flight to Spain.

Malaga, the home of Pablo Picasso welcomed us to Spain. During the trip, we visited Torremolinos, Benalmádena, including a ride on the cable car to the top of the mountain and the wonderful town of Mijas. Most importantly, it was to spend time with very close friends and enjoy R&R at their lovely home.

We took advantage of some cheaper air fares to hop on a Ryanair flight to Rome to visit the Eternal City and view the sights. St Peters Square was incredible to see in person, and of course, the food was incredible from the lunches and dinners to breakfast. However, we will never forget our taxi driver Frank who spoke non-stop for about 20 minutes, and has us laughing so much. Now, the other taxi drivers, well, all the other driver, those riding scooters, etc. - lets just say that when we took a taxi to the hotel at the airport where we stayed our last night in Rome, lets just say prayers were involved.
